If the membrane dries over the chick’s beak and nares the chick will suffocate. The chick’s movement can be restricted by dried membrane making rotation impossible and the chick will not be able to hatch without assistance. In my hatcher the wet bulb temperature is near 93°F (33.9°C), which corresponds to a relative humidity of about 83 per cent.
